Today, in a crazy crossover showdown, we’re pairing two Nightmare Before Christmas themed coffee blends, by Bones Coffee Company, with original Magically Epic baking creations inspired by Draco Malfoy Blondies from The Official Harry Potter Cookbook. The mission was to create a dual-flavored, single-pan blondie that combines Halloweentown and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Bones Coffee Company inspired us, and Coffee Mate provided us an amazing toffee flavored foundation, the Harry Potter themed Cauldron Cake coffee creamer, to tie our epic creations together.
Cauldron Cake Blondie Batter Foundation
Our Cauldron Cake Creamer anchored batter base included:
- 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) of melted and cooled unsalted butter
- 2 cups of packed light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp natural vanilla
- 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp aluminum-free baking powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup Coffee-Mate Cauldron Cake Creamer
The Coffee-Mate Toffee Cauldron Cake Creamer was an absolute stroke of mad bakery scientist genius that tied everything together. Along with the rich, melted butter, its deep, rich toffee flavor provided an absolutely perfect foundation that complemented both of our flavor profiles in his two-headed monster of a Halloween themed dessert. Incorporating Coffee-Mate’s Harry Potter themed coffee creamers is officially a Magically Epic baking hack for any future Wizarding World kitchen magic or potion making!
Our Review of the Nightmare Before Christmas by Bones Coffee
| Coffee Flavor | Preparation & Verdict | Thematic Rating |
| The Pumpkin King (Pumpkin Pecan Praline) | Flavor Profile: Robust, with a prominent blend of pumpkin and nutty praline. A great example of an elevated fall flavor. Best Preparation: The cold brew method made the flavor more pronounced and enjoyable than the hot drip method. Verdict: This is our favorite of the two coffee flavors. Highly recommended for fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas and anyone looking for a strong autumn brew. | Halloweentown’s Elegance.Represents Jack Skellington’s sophisticated take on the season. |
| Ruff Weather (Oatmeal Cream Pie) | Flavor Profile: Slightly more subtle and restrained than The Pumpkin King, in both hot drip and cold brew preparations. It delivered a gentle, comforting sweetness. Verdict: A nice, smooth coffee, but not as robust in flavor delivery as its counterpart. | Zero’s Cozy Warmth.Represents the soft, comforting transition to Christmas Town. |
Cauldron Cake Blondie Creation Reviews
Our family tasting test involved trying the two flavors of blondies warm, cooled, and warmed again with ice cream—a thorough Magically Epic approach!
| Blondie Flavor | Tasting Notes | Final Verdict & Pairing |
| Zero’s Ruff Weather Toffee Blondie (Oats, Walnuts, Marshmallow) | Warm/Cooled: The combination of chewy oats, crunchy walnuts, and the gooey pockets from the melted marshmallow delivered a stellar textural experience. The toffee base perfectly enhanced the “cream pie” notes. Family Verdict: This was the clear family favorite. The flavor achieved by incorporating the rolled oats and marshmallow with the Cauldron Cake toffee base is simply stellar and a must-bake. | Best Dessert: This blondie was the most impressive and will be baked again. Coffee Pairing: Despite the coffee being more subtle, this dessert embodies the feeling of Ruff Weather—cozy, comforting, and perfect for the cold transition time. |
| The Pumpkin King’s Hearth Blondie (Pumpkin Purée, Pecan, Dark Chocolate) | Warm/Cooled: A very nice blend of autumnal flavors. The rich pumpkin and pecan provided the sophisticated flavor expected of The Pumpkin King. The inclusion of semi-sweet chocolate chips added a subtle “dark” counterpoint. Verdict: Quite nice and a lovely fall treat, but it was outshined by the unique profile and texture of our Ruff Weather version. | Best Coffee: This flavor profile was the most robust and compelling of the two coffees. Dessert Pairing: A perfect flavor match for the The Pumpkin King coffee, offering a dense, spiced dessert to complement the robust brew. |
In the end, while The Pumpkin King took the title for Favorite Coffee, the blondie it inspired us to develop was topped by the confectionary brilliance of our original Ruff Weather flavor profile dessert— which a true split decision that proves you can successfully celebrate both Halloweentown and the Wizarding World!
